Apples

We were taking the dog-walk evening stroll along our normal path Monday.  Around the bend, on the loop, through the greenbelt, we found a giant pile of apples.  I said, "Where did these come from, the ROAD?"  Jeff said, you mean ROAD apples?  We laughed all the way home.  And, there are no apple trees in our neighborhood.

YOLO

Jeff said, "put this on your blog."......what? I said......YOLO.   There is a little shop in a little town in the middle of no where......that has a name....meaning.  You Only Live Once.....we just love that.....take advantage of everyday....and maybe every shop.  :)

It Isn't Complicated

It is just time to move home.  Since mid April, I have been delighted by friends, surprised by nature and amazed at the resilience of my family and even the pets.  April, May, June, July have almost entirely dissolved from the calendar.  The roof is repaired, the walls are painted, the furniture is back.  We move tomorrow.  Lightening, fire, floods of water, all a memory after today.

Go Confidently

I am connected to this giant, so big it does not fit in a picture, truck, in a way that defies description.  This is my truck.  This is the steering wheel.  Honestly, I can barely believe this is my go to the store vehicle.  We live in a Patio Home community not a ranch.  This truck just barely fits in our garage.  My stylist's boyfriend said that the closest you will get to the sound of a fighter jet engine is listening to the whine of the diesel turbo starting in the morning.  What?  I love my truck.

There are unintended consequences to keeping the "If not now, when?" thought too close to the top of your mind.

On the way to the store, my husband and I stopped to look at trucks, for the sole purpose of exploring a truck purchase in the distant future.  Later that evening, we left my prized Lincoln Naviagtor with the dealership and went home with a big blue diesel truck.

"Post hoc ergo propter hoc"

and the definition, "after this, therefore because of this".   Just love this bit of the only Latin I actually know.  I learned a great deal from West Wing.

Palm Trees in the Porridge, my title, definitely a post hoc, just an ancient memory.  A children's story from a red cloth bound book checked from the library maybe 50 years ago.  A lovely shout out to the Hoover School library in Santa Ana, California.  Really though, the palm tree developed from the spoon of a little girl daydreaming while she ate her porridge...and then off we would go to the Far East on flying carpets and then, of course, there were palm trees.  From those early story rides on carpets and leaves I live with a daydream addiction that keeps me endlessly entertained.

Being 59

This special birthday year gives me a great deal to consider.  What is it like to own 60 years of hopefully the first 100?  Wandering towards the next birthday party is exciting.  I think this is the decade, this is the one where I might figure out the who that wears my hat. If not now, when? is my daily positive thought.
